Bacon & Pea Mac 'n' Cheese



Enjoy the ultimate comfort food with this rich and creamy mac 'n' cheese that's packed with sweet peas and crispy bacon. This hearty dish is great for satisfying your hunger on a cold night.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz macaroni pasta
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Cook macaroni according to package instructions

Drain and set aside

In a large skillet, cook bacon until crispy

Remove bacon from skillet and drain on paper towels

Reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon fat in the skillet

Add butter to the skillet with bacon fat over medium heat

Once melted, whisk in flour to create a roux

Cook for 1-2 minutes

Gradually pour in milk, whisking constantly until smooth and thickened

Stir in shredded cheese until melted and creamy

Add cooked macaroni, cooked bacon, and frozen peas to the cheese sauce

Stir until well combined and heated through

Season with salt and pepper to taste

Serve hot, garnished with additional shredded cheese and bacon bits if desired
